Gateway 2 guidance – your help is required

CWCT is collaborating with the Society of Façade Engineering to try and provide façade-specific guidance related to Gateway 2 submissions to the Building Safety Regulator.

For all higher risk buildings, the new ‘Gateway’ process introduced by the Building Safety Act must be followed.  Gateway 2 requires demonstration that the design of the building, including the façade, meets the necessary regulations and safety standards, prior to commencing construction.

It is our understanding that many Gateway 2 applications are being rejected, and little guidance is available in the public domain to help this situation.  One of the key unknowns remains the level of façade detail required as part of the application.

In order to try and help this situation, we propose to collate façade-specific reasons why Gateway 2 applications have failed and publish these so that they can act as a ‘check list’ for anyone making a subsequent application.  We think this could provide a really useful resource to help people better understand what the Regulator is looking for.

In order for this to be successful, we need your help!  We will be relying on people to share information with us.  We understand that this can present difficulties and will make this process as straightforward as possible.  Submissions can be made anonymously without sharing details of the project and organisations involved – we just need to know the reason that the application was unsuccessful.

We really hope that people will engage with this.  It is in everyone’s interest to share their experiences so that we can all learn from them so that more Gateway 2 applications are successful in the future.

Please submit your feedback here.  Alternatively send details to cwct@cwct.co.uk.

Thank you in advance for your support.
