Government consultation – higher-risk buildings

The Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities have recently launched a consultation on ‘implementing the new building control regime for higher-risk buildings and wider changes to the building regulations for all buildings’.

This consultation is very important as it will influence the secondary legislation required to support the Building Safety Act which achieved Royal Assent earlier this year. 

The consultation seeks views on policy proposals for higher-risk buildings, as well as wider changes to improve the building control system.  It also includes questions regarding duty holder and competence requirements on all building work and additional duties for those working on higher-risk buildings. 

The consultation ends on 12 October 2022.  We strongly encourage you to respond.
